Quick Turn at Nürnberg (EDDN)
Flight-ready reset between legs—cabin, galley, lavatory and a waterless wipe—inside your ground time.
Quick Turn at Nürnberg is a flight-ready turnaround service for super-midsize through ultra-long-range business jets operating consecutive legs through EDDN. We vacuum the cabin, reset the lavatory and galley with your supplies, clean cockpit and cabin windows from inside, wipe the nose and leading edges with a waterless product, remove trash and neutralise odours—all inside the typical 45 to 90 minutes of ramp time. The service is designed for charter operators, flight departments and fleet programmes that treat Nuremberg as a regular stop or a same-day return base, where a full detail is not required but passenger-ready appearance is non-negotiable.

What changes at Nürnberg in winter and summer?
Nuremberg sits at 1,044 feet elevation in the continental climate of northern Bavaria, five kilometres north of the city centre. The single runway—10/28, 2,700 metres—handles a mix of scheduled narrowbodies, cargo freighters and business aviation without slot coordination; Universal Weather lists no slot requirement for GA, and the airport is categorised Level 2 'schedules facilitated' under FHKD coordination.
Unlike most German airports, EDDN is licensed for 24/7 operations. Night passenger flights operate during the summer peak, and cargo, military and GA movements continue through the winter nights. The handling agent AirPart GmbH—a subsidiary of Flughafen Nürnberg—staffs the General Aviation Terminal around the clock, which means overnight ramp work is operationally possible. The GAT desk is open Monday to Friday 06:00–21:30 CET and weekends and bank holidays 08:30–18:00, but airside support continues outside those hours.
Winter brings freezing fog, occasional snow and the need for Type I and IV fluid; summer afternoons see convective buildups that can delay inbound traffic. For a quick turn, the all-hours licence and handler availability mean you can schedule a morning departure after a late arrival the night before, with cabin and exterior work completed while the aircraft is cold-soaked on stand.
Why book a waterless exterior wipe between legs?
A waterless wipe is not a substitute for a full wash, but it removes the visual evidence of a flight—bug strikes on the nose and leading edges, exhaust residue around the APU, smudges near the entry door—without introducing water to the apron or occupying a wash bay. On a same-day return or a tight turnaround, it keeps the aircraft looking cared-for in front of the next set of passengers.
We use a polymer-based rinseless product that encapsulates particulate and lifts it from the paint without scratching. The process takes fifteen to twenty minutes and is done on stand, so it does not interfere with refuelling, catering or baggage loading. If the airframe is heavily soiled—post-deicing fluid, industrial fallout, bird strikes—we will tell you during the walk-around and recommend a full wash at the next suitable station.
The wipe is included in every quick turn because first impressions matter, and because it gives us a close look at the paint, the seals around the door and the condition of the nacelles. Any anomaly—a fluid leak, a loose fastener, a crack in a lens—goes into the debrief.
How do you coordinate with AirPart and the GAT?
AirPart GmbH operates the General Aviation Terminal at Flughafenstr. 100 and holds IATA AHM 804 and ISAGO certification. They are the sole handling agent for GA at Nuremberg, so every business jet that parks at the GAT ramp works through their ground crew. We liaise directly with the AirPart duty manager to confirm stand assignment, GPU availability, airside escort and timing.
For a quick turn, coordination begins when you file the return leg or the next departure. We send the scope of work—cabin reset, lavatory service, waterless wipe, trash removal—to AirPart and request a stand that allows simultaneous refuelling and cleaning. If you are overnighting, we schedule the work after the last passenger deplanes and before the morning preflight, so the cabin is ready when the crew arrives.
Airside access at EDDN requires an escort unless our technician holds a current Nuremberg airside pass. We carry our own vacuum, microfibre cloths, trash bags and rinseless product; the handler provides GPU if the APU is shut down, and secures the stand perimeter if the work overlaps with refuelling. The GAT desk is the single point of contact for PPR, slot confirmation (if required for a particular operation) and any customs or handling paperwork.
What does a recurring quick-turn schedule look like?
A recurring schedule makes sense if you operate the same aircraft through Nuremberg twice a week or more—charter shuttles to Frankfurt or Munich, corporate rotations to Stuttgart or Vienna, positioning legs for a fleet based elsewhere. Instead of booking each turnaround individually, you give us the tail number, the typical arrival and departure window, and the preferred scope of work. We then reserve capacity, pre-clear airside access with AirPart, and invoice monthly.
The advantage is predictability: the same technician walks the same aircraft, learns where the cabin-crew storage is, knows which galley inserts are removable, and spots a worn carpet edge or a loose seat track before it becomes a write-up. For the flight department, it removes the administrative friction of repeated bookings and ensures that the aircraft is always passenger-ready, even on short notice.
If a leg cancels or the schedule shifts, we adjust. If the aircraft diverts or arrives AOG, we coordinate with the handler and your maintenance provider to fit the cabin work around the troubleshooting. The recurring contract is a framework, not a straitjacket.
Which aircraft sizes work best for a 90-minute turnaround?
A quick turn is designed for super-midsize jets through ultra-long-range types: Challenger 350 and 650, Gulfstream G280 through G650, Falcon 2000 and 7X/8X, Global Express and XRS, ACJ319 and BBJ variants. Light jets and turboprops can be turned faster—often inside 45 minutes—but they are typically part of a fleet programme rather than one-off charters.
The 90-minute window includes stand marshalling, GPU hookup, the cabin vacuum and wipe-down, lavatory and galley reset, cockpit and cabin windows, the waterless exterior wipe of the nose and entry area, trash bagging and removal, and a final walk-through with the flight crew or the handler. If the aircraft is a widebody ACJ or BBJ with a complex cabin—multiple zones, full galley, enclosed lavatory—we extend the window to two hours and add a second technician.
EDDN's 2,700-metre runway accommodates everything up to narrowbody airliners at typical business-aviation weights, and the elevation of 1,044 feet poses no performance penalty. The limiting factor is not the airport but the ground time: if you need a full interior detail, a dry wash of the entire fuselage, or a polish of the brightwork, the work moves out of the quick-turn category and into a scheduled maintenance window.
How do you handle trash and galley restocking?
Trash removal is straightforward: we bag everything from the cabin bins, the galley and the lavatory, label the bags with the tail number and the date, and hand them to the AirPart ground crew for disposal in accordance with EDDN waste-handling procedures. If the flight originated outside the EU and the trash is subject to international sanitary regulations, we follow the handler's protocol and document the handover.
Galley restocking is your responsibility or your caterer's; we do not supply consumables. What we do is reset the galley to a clean, organised state: wipe down the counter and the cabinet fronts, empty the rubbish drawer, check that the coffee maker and the oven are switched off, and arrange whatever supplies you have delivered—water bottles, snack boxes, napkins—so the cabin crew can find them. If you use a regular caterer at Nuremberg, we coordinate timing so the catering delivery happens after we finish the galley wipe-down.
The lavatory reset includes emptying the waste bin, wiping the sink and the toilet, replenishing hand towels and soap if you provide them, and a quick check of the flush mechanism and the faucet. We do not service the blue-water system—that is the handler's or your maintenance provider's task—but we will note any odour or malfunction in the debrief.
Questions operators ask about Quick Turn at Nürnberg
Can you turn an aircraft overnight at Nuremberg?
Yes; EDDN is licensed for 24/7 operations and AirPart is staffed around the clock. Nuremberg is one of the few German airports licensed for continuous operations, and the handling agent AirPart GmbH maintains 24-hour staffing. We can schedule a quick turn after a late arrival and before an early departure, completing cabin and exterior work while the aircraft is cold-soaked on stand.
What is the typical ground time for a quick turn?
45 to 90 minutes, depending on aircraft size and cabin complexity. A super-midsize jet with a standard six- to eight-seat cabin takes about 60 minutes; an ultra-long-range type with multiple zones and an enclosed lavatory may need 90 minutes. If you have less than 45 minutes between legs, we prioritise the cabin vacuum, lavatory reset and cockpit windows.
Do you need a separate airside escort at EDDN?
Only if our technician does not hold a current Nuremberg airside pass. Nuremberg requires an escort for any person without a valid airport pass. We coordinate with AirPart to provide the escort if needed; the cost is usually absorbed into the handler's ramp fee. If we are working at EDDN regularly, we apply for a pass to eliminate the escort requirement.
Can you work on the aircraft while it is being refuelled?
Yes, with the handler's approval and provided we stay clear of the fuel panel and the wings. We coordinate with AirPart to confirm that cabin and cockpit work can proceed during refuelling. The waterless exterior wipe is delayed until the fuel truck disconnects. All work follows the airport's hot-refuelling safety protocol, and the stand is secured by the handler.
What happens if the inbound leg is delayed?
We adjust the start time and compress the scope if the outbound slot is fixed. If the delay is short—30 minutes or less—we usually absorb it without changing the scope. If the delay threatens the next departure, we prioritise the cabin vacuum, lavatory and galley over the exterior wipe. You or the handler notify us as soon as the revised arrival time is known.
Do you service light jets and turboprops at Nuremberg?
Yes, but typically only within a fleet programme or a recurring schedule. A Phenom 300 or a King Air can be turned in 45 minutes, but the economics favour recurring work—charter operators, fractional fleets, or corporate shuttles. One-off quick turns for light aircraft are accepted if the timing aligns with other work at EDDN.
Is a quick turn enough if the aircraft has been through deicing?
No; deicing fluid residue requires a full wash, not a waterless wipe. Type I and Type IV fluids leave a glycol film that a rinseless product cannot remove. If the aircraft has been deiced, we recommend a full wash at the next station with warm-water facilities. The quick turn can still address the cabin, but the exterior wipe will have limited effect.
Can you add a carpet shampoo or a deep galley clean to a quick turn?
Not within the 90-minute window; those tasks require a scheduled detail. A quick turn is a surface reset, not a deep clean. Carpet extraction, oven degreasing and panel polish require more time and different equipment. If the cabin needs that level of attention, we schedule a full interior detail during a longer ground stop or an overnight.
How do you invoice for recurring quick turns?
Monthly, with a line item for each turnaround and the tail number. At the end of each month, we send a consolidated invoice listing every quick turn by date, tail number, and scope of work. Payment terms are net 30 days. If a turnaround is cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice, there is no charge.
What is included in the cabin scent neutralisation?
We use an odour-neutralising spray after trash removal, not a fragrance. The product is enzyme-based and breaks down organic odours—galley waste, lavatory smells, stale air—without masking them with perfume. We apply it to the carpet and the soft furnishings after vacuuming, and it dissipates within ten minutes. If you prefer no scent product at all, we note that in the work order.
