Quick Turn at Lugano (LSZA)

Flight-ready reset—cabin, lavatory, galley, windows and a waterless exterior wipe—inside your ground time.

Quick Turn at Lugano (LSZA) is a flight-ready reset delivered between two legs: cabin vacuum and wipe-down, lavatory and galley service, cockpit and cabin windows cleaned inside, and a waterless exterior wipe of the nose, leading edges and entry area. Built for chief pilots and charter operators working light and mid-size business jets through Lugano's compact schedule, the service fits inside typical ground time—45 to 90 minutes depending on type—and can be booked as a recurring programme or called in on the day. Trash is removed, bins restocked with your supplies, and the cabin left scent-neutral and ready for the next sector.

Why book a Quick Turn at Lugano rather than leaving it to line crew?

Line crew at the handling agent will marshal, fuel and tow; they rarely vacuum, scrub a galley or wipe fingerprints from cabin windows to the standard a repeat client expects. A Quick Turn is a dedicated appearance reset performed by technicians who carry their own kit, follow a checklist and photograph the result. You receive a digital report within an hour of completion, so if the aircraft is already halfway to its next stop, you still know what was done.

For operators running regular rotations into Lugano—morning positioning from a northern European base, afternoon return, or back-to-back charter sectors across the Alps—a recurring Quick Turn schedule means the cabin is never left to drift. Crumbs, fingerprints and lavatory smells are dealt with every time the door opens, and the exterior nose cone and leading edges stay free of the insect strikes and dust that accumulate quickly on short Alpine hops.

What changes at Lugano?

Lugano sits at 915 feet elevation west of the city, in the municipalities of Agno, Bioggio and Muzzano. The single runway—01/19, 1,415 metres—limits the fleet to light and mid-size business jets and turboprops; super-midsize types at high weight or in warm conditions will usually route elsewhere. There is no scheduled airline service as of 2025, so the airport lives entirely on business and general aviation, with handling provided by Lugano Airport SA from the main terminal at Via Aeroporto 15, Agno.

Operating hours are narrow: the airport is open 08:00–12:00 and 13:30–20:00 local every day, with the handling office opening from 07:00. Landing and take-off are not permitted outside those windows unless a PPR extension is arranged 48 hours in advance—available 07:00–08:00 and 20:00–22:00, with a surcharge. The lunch closure from 12:00 to 13:30 and the 20:00 curfew mean that any on-ramp detailing must either fit neatly inside the published hours or be planned with the extension in hand.

For Quick Turn work, the short ground window is rarely a problem—most turnarounds happen mid-morning or mid-afternoon, well inside the open period. If you are positioning in early or holding late, confirm the PPR extension first; our technicians can meet the aircraft during the extended slot, but the handling agent and airside escort must also be arranged. The compact schedule and the absence of airline clutter mean the ramp is usually quiet, and turnaround work proceeds without the delays common at busier fields.

What does the Quick Turn include on the ramp at Lugano?

The technician arrives with vacuum, microfibre cloths, pH-neutral cleaners, bin liners and waterless exterior solution. Inside, every cabin surface—seats, tables, sills, armrests—is wiped down, the floor vacuumed from cockpit threshold to the aft bulkhead, and the galley counter and bin surrounds cleaned. The lavatory is scrubbed, the bowl treated, the mirror polished and the bin emptied. If you supply soap, towels or amenity kits, the technician will restock from the stores you leave on board or deliver to the ramp.

Cockpit and cabin windows are cleaned on the inside only; the waterless exterior wipe focuses on the nose, the leading edges of the wings and the area around the entry door—the zones that collect the most visible grime between full washes. Trash is bagged, removed from the aircraft and disposed of airside. The cabin is left scent-neutral using a light enzymatic spray; no perfume is applied unless you request it. At the end, a short photo report—galley, lavatory, cabin overview, exterior wipe zones—is uploaded to a shared folder and a summary emailed to the address on file.

How does recurring Quick Turn work for a Lugano-based aircraft or regular rotation?

If the aircraft overnights at Lugano or runs a predictable weekly pattern—morning departure to Milan Linate, afternoon return; weekend positioning from Zurich, Monday departure—you can book a standing Quick Turn that triggers automatically on each inbound leg. We hold a key-tag or door code if the aircraft is left unattended overnight, and the work is completed either immediately after block-in or early the following morning, depending on your preference and the airport's operating hours.

Recurring work is invoiced monthly with a small discount compared to call-out rates, and because the same technician usually handles the same tail, small cabin issues—a sticking seat-belt buckle, a loose magazine pocket, a galley latch that needs adjustment—are noticed and noted before they become complaints. For charter operators, a recurring Quick Turn at a regular tech stop keeps the cabin in a constant state of readiness and reduces the likelihood of a passenger comment about yesterday's crumbs or this morning's fingerprints.

Can a Quick Turn be called in on the day, and how much notice do you need?

Yes. If the inbound leg is confirmed and you have a block-in time, a Quick Turn can be arranged with as little as two hours' notice, provided a technician is available and the timing falls inside Lugano's operating hours. Call or message with the registration, type, block-in and the planned ground time; we confirm availability, agree the scope and meet the aircraft on the ramp. Payment is by card or invoice, and the digital report follows within the hour.

On-call work is more expensive than a recurring schedule, and during summer weekends or around trade-fair peaks in Milan and Zurich, availability can be tight. If you know a turnaround is likely—charter return leg, positioning flight, crew swap—booking a day ahead costs nothing and guarantees the slot. For true last-minute requests, we do our best, but if the airport is about to close or the technician is committed elsewhere, the answer may be no.

What happens if the inbound is delayed or the ground time shrinks?

We monitor the inbound on FlightAware and stay in contact with the handling agent. If the delay is short—fifteen or twenty minutes—the Quick Turn simply starts later and finishes later, assuming the new block-out still falls inside the airport's hours. If the delay is longer or the ground time is cut by a schedule change, we adjust the scope: galley and lavatory first, then cabin wipe-down, then windows, with the exterior wipe dropped if time runs out. You are told in advance what will and will not be completed, and the invoice reflects the reduced scope.

If the delay pushes the block-in past 20:00 and no PPR extension is in place, the aircraft will divert or hold elsewhere, and the Quick Turn is cancelled without charge. If an extension has been arranged and the technician is waiting during the 20:00–22:00 window, a call-out supplement applies, agreed in advance. The narrow operating hours at Lugano make timing discipline important; we build in a small buffer, but we cannot work outside the airport's published or extended windows without the handler, escort and PPR all aligned.

Questions operators ask about Quick Turn at Lugano

How long does a Quick Turn take at Lugano?

Forty-five to ninety minutes, depending on aircraft size. A light jet or turboprop is usually finished in forty-five minutes; a mid-size cabin with a full galley and larger lavatory will take seventy-five to ninety. The technician confirms the expected duration when you book, and the digital report timestamps the start and finish.

Is the exterior wash included in a Quick Turn?

No, only a waterless wipe of the nose, leading edges and entry area. A Quick Turn is not a substitute for a full exterior wash. The waterless wipe removes the most visible dust, insect strikes and fingerprints from the forward fuselage and wing leading edges, keeping the aircraft presentable between proper washes. For a complete exterior, book a rinseless or dry wash.

Can I book a Quick Turn for every inbound leg on a recurring schedule?

Yes, and recurring work is invoiced monthly at a lower rate. If the aircraft is based at Lugano or runs a regular rotation, a standing Quick Turn can be set to trigger on each arrival. The same technician handles the same tail, small issues are caught early, and the monthly invoice includes a modest discount compared to individual call-outs.

What if the aircraft arrives outside Lugano's operating hours?

A PPR extension must be arranged 48 hours in advance, and a surcharge applies. The airport is open 08:00–12:00 and 13:30–20:00 daily, with extensions available 07:00–08:00 and 20:00–22:00 by prior permission. If the Quick Turn falls during an extension, the handler, airside escort and our technician must all be coordinated, and the airport's surcharge will appear on the handling invoice.

Do you supply cleaning products and bin liners, or do I provide them?

We supply all cleaning materials; you supply only cabin consumables like soap or towels. The technician brings vacuum, microfibre cloths, pH-neutral cleaners, waterless exterior solution and bin liners. If you want the galley or lavatory restocked with soap, paper towels or amenity kits, leave them on board or deliver them to the ramp, and the technician will place them during the service.

Will I receive a report after the Quick Turn is finished?

Yes, a digital photo report and summary are sent within an hour. The technician photographs the galley, lavatory, cabin overview and exterior wipe zones, uploads the images to a shared folder, and emails a short summary to the address on file. If the aircraft is already airborne, you still have a timestamped record of what was done.

Can a Quick Turn be called in on the day with short notice?

Yes, with as little as two hours' notice if a technician is available. Provide the registration, type, block-in time and planned ground time, and we confirm availability. On-call work costs more than recurring service, and during busy periods or near the airport's closing time, availability may be limited. Booking a day ahead is always safer.

What happens if the ground time is cut or the inbound is delayed?

We adjust the scope—galley and lavatory first—and invoice only for work completed. If the delay is short, the Quick Turn starts later. If the ground time shrinks significantly, we prioritise the galley, lavatory and cabin wipe-down, and drop the exterior wipe if necessary. You are told in advance what will be completed, and the invoice reflects the reduced scope.

Does the Quick Turn include cockpit cleaning?

Only the inside of the cockpit windows; the rest of the flight deck is not touched. The technician cleans the inside of the cockpit windows and may vacuum the threshold if debris has tracked forward, but avionics, yoke, throttles and panels are not wiped. If you need a full flight-deck detail, book it separately and brief the technician on no-touch zones.

Which handling agent do you work with at Lugano?

Handling is provided by Lugano Airport SA, the airport operator. There is one handling agent at Lugano: Lugano Airport SA, based in the main terminal at Via Aeroporto 15, Agno. We coordinate directly with their ramp team for airside access, GPU if needed, and any schedule changes. You will receive separate invoices—one from the handler for ramp fees, one from us for the Quick Turn.
