Fleet Care Program at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (LIPE)
Twelve-month detailing calendar for fleets based at LIPE—one contact, one invoice, priority access.
The Fleet Care Program at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi is a twelve-month appearance contract designed for charter operators, corporate flight departments and FBO-managed fleets with recurring movements through LIPE. Rather than booking individual washes or cabin cleans as aircraft rotate through the apron, the programme establishes a service calendar synchronised to your flight schedule: quick turns between legs, monthly interior refreshes, seasonal exterior decontamination and brightwork correction, all delivered by the same crew who know your tails. Every visit generates a photo report and service entry; every quarter we review appearance history with your operations team.

Why build a detailing calendar around Bologna?
Bologna sits at the heart of northern Italy's business aviation corridor. If your fleet serves Milan, Florence, Modena or the Adriatic coast on a weekly cycle, LIPE becomes a natural turnaround point—and turnarounds are where appearance standards slip. A quick turn means the cabin is reset in forty minutes; it does not mean the galley is deep-cleaned or the lavatory brightwork polished. Charter clients notice.
The Fleet Care Program treats your home base—or high-frequency outstation—as a maintenance interval for appearance. We schedule work around your flight programme: a dry wash and vacuum after every second rotation, a full interior monthly, an exterior polish each quarter. The calendar is yours; we simply populate it and execute without requiring a purchase order for every visit. For a charter operator running four or five legs a week through Bologna, that eliminates a dozen invoices and twice as many coordination calls.
What changes at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi?
Bologna Guglielmo Marconi operates at 123 feet elevation with a single runway—12/30, 2,803 metres—and round-the-clock handling. Two agents serve general aviation: TAG Bologna S.r.l., the airport operator's own subsidiary, runs the 1,100-square-metre Terminal Aviazione Generale, a dedicated 22,000-square-metre apron and a 2,000-square-metre hangar, all available twenty-four hours; AviaVIP also offers handling. Both require PPR for parking clearance. Since moving from schedule-facilitated to fully coordinated status, every arrival now requires an Assoclearance slot, which tightens turnaround windows and makes predictable ground time more valuable.
The apron is fully exposed. Spring pollen from the Po valley coats leading edges and windscreens; summer dust from the Apennine foothills bakes onto belly panels; autumn rain leaves streaks on fuselage cheat lines. A fleet based here year-round will show it unless detailing is calendared rather than reactive. The Fleet Care Program schedules exterior work seasonally—decontamination in April and September, single-stage polish before winter—so the aircraft never waits for you to notice the decline.
How does documentation work across twelve months?
Every service visit generates a digital photo set and a one-page report: what was done, products used, areas flagged for future attention, and elapsed time. The report goes to your nominated operations contact within two hours of sign-off; photos are stored in a shared folder organised by tail number and date. If your SMS or CAMO asks for appearance records during an audit, you have them.
Quarterly reviews are held by video call or at the FBO. We walk through the last ninety days—number of washes, cabin cleans, any AOG calls—and adjust the calendar for the next quarter if your flight pattern has shifted. Charter operators often see seasonal swings: heavy utilisation around trade fairs in spring, lighter loads in August. The programme flexes with you, but the baseline rhythm—quick turns, monthlies, quarterlies—remains so that no tail is neglected during a quiet month.
What does priority AOG cover mean in practice?
AOG appearance requests are rare, but they happen: a client walks the cabin two hours before departure and objects to a stain the crew missed; a bird strike on approach leaves blood and feathers across the radome; de-icing fluid residue clouds the windscreen after an early push. Under the Fleet Care Program, your operations team has a dedicated mobile number. If the aircraft is on stand at Bologna and the request comes before scheduled crew knock-off, we mobilise within thirty minutes. If it is outside normal hours, we call back within fifteen and either dispatch or coordinate with the handling agent for airside escort.
Priority does not mean free; AOG work is billed separately. It does mean your call is answered first and the crew who know your cabin configuration—seat material, veneer type, carpet—are the ones who respond. For a charter operator, that distinction matters when the client is already on the apron.
How is the fixed monthly budget structured?
Each tail number enrolled in the programme is assigned a monthly fee that covers the baseline calendar: one quick exterior wash or dry wash per fortnight, one full interior clean per month, and one exterior decontamination per quarter. Consumables—rinseless solution, microfibre, cabin-safe degreasers—are included. GPU hire, hangar time if required for cold-weather work, and any additional services requested outside the calendar are billed separately at standard rates.
The structure is designed to make budgeting predictable. A super-midsize jet flying twice weekly through LIPE will cost the same in January as in June, even if winter ops require extra pitot-cover handling and summer means more frequent leading-edge cleaning. If utilisation drops and you want to pause the programme for a month, we adjust; if you add a second tail mid-year, we pro-rate from the enrolment date. The goal is to remove the surprise invoice after a busy month when the aircraft flew more than planned.
Who should consider a fleet programme at Bologna?
The programme makes sense if you operate two or more aircraft through LIPE on a recurring basis—either based here or rotating through weekly—and you want appearance standards maintained without operational overhead. Charter operators running Italian and southern-European legs find it valuable because Bologna is a natural re-positioning stop; corporate flight departments with a regional office in Emilia-Romagna use it to keep their flagship tail client-ready without asking the chief pilot to book a detailer every month.
FBOs managing third-party aircraft under fleet contracts also enrol tails when the owner has specified appearance standards in the management agreement. In that scenario, the FBO nominates the operations contact, we deliver the service and documentation, and the cost flows through the monthly management invoice. The twelve-month commitment ensures continuity: the same detailing crew, the same products, the same photo protocol, so that when the owner steps aboard in month eleven, the cabin looks as it did in month one.
Questions operators ask about Fleet Care Program at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi
Can I enrol a single aircraft, or is this only for multi-tail fleets?
Single-tail enrolment is accepted if the aircraft operates through Bologna at least twice monthly. The programme is open to individual aircraft provided the utilisation justifies a fixed monthly fee. If your sole tail repositions through LIPE fewer than twice a month, ad-hoc detailing is usually more economical. For fleets of two or more, or any single aircraft with weekly movements, the programme delivers better value and eliminates per-visit coordination.
What happens if the aircraft is away from Bologna for several weeks?
The monthly fee continues, but scheduled services roll forward to the next available visit. If an enrolled tail spends a month abroad or in maintenance, we do not perform phantom services. The calendar shifts: the monthly interior clean moves to the first return visit, and the quarterly exterior is rescheduled. The fee structure assumes year-round enrolment; if you prefer to pause billing during extended absences, we can arrange that at the contract stage, though it affects the monthly rate.
Are handling fees and GPU included in the monthly budget?
No; handling, GPU hire and hangar time are billed separately at prevailing rates. The fixed monthly fee covers labour, consumables and the service calendar. Anything invoiced by the FBO or handler—ramp access, ground power, towing, hangar use—is passed through at cost. We coordinate with TAG Bologna or AviaVIP on your behalf, but those charges appear as separate line items on your monthly statement.
How quickly can you mobilise for an AOG appearance request?
Within thirty minutes during crew hours; callback within fifteen minutes outside normal shifts. Priority AOG cover means your call is answered first and the crew familiar with your aircraft responds. If the request arrives during our standard operating window and the aircraft is on the Bologna apron, we aim for wheels-rolling in thirty minutes. After hours or weekends, we return the call within fifteen minutes and either dispatch immediately or arrange escort and access with the handling agent.
Do you provide the same crew for every visit?
Yes, wherever possible; continuity is a core principle of the programme. Each enrolled tail is assigned a primary detailing crew who learn the aircraft's cabin layout, material sensitivities and any owner preferences. If that crew is unavailable—leave, concurrent AOG—a secondary crew takes over using the service notes from previous visits. The goal is to eliminate the briefing time and material trial-and-error that come with one-off jobs.
Can I adjust the service calendar mid-year if flight patterns change?
Yes; quarterly reviews exist precisely to adapt the calendar to actual utilisation. Flight departments and charter operators rarely maintain the same tempo all year. During each quarterly review we compare planned versus actual services, discuss any upcoming schedule changes—air-show season, client events, maintenance downtime—and adjust the calendar. The monthly fee may change if the baseline frequency shifts significantly, but minor tweaks are accommodated within the existing budget.
What kind of photo documentation is included?
Digital photo sets covering exterior, cabin, galley and lavatory, delivered within two hours of sign-off. Every service visit generates ten to twenty images: wide shots of the fuselage and wings, close-ups of brightwork and leading edges, cabin overviews and detail shots of cleaned surfaces. Photos are date-stamped, organised by tail number in a shared folder and accompanied by a one-page service report. If your SMS or owner requires proof of appearance maintenance, the archive is audit-ready.
Is the programme renewable automatically after twelve months?
Renewal is offered sixty days before expiry; it is not automatic unless you elect continuous terms. Two months before the contract ends, we send a renewal proposal reflecting the prior year's actual utilisation and any rate adjustments. You can renew for another twelve months, shift to ad-hoc detailing or modify the enrolled tail list. Some fleet operators prefer continuous rolling terms; we accommodate that with a notice period for cancellation, but the default is a fixed twelve-month commitment with explicit renewal.
Can I add a second aircraft to the programme mid-contract?
Yes; new tails are enrolled pro-rata from the first scheduled service. If you acquire or lease an additional aircraft, or if a tail you already operate begins frequent Bologna rotations, we enrol it immediately. The monthly fee is calculated from the enrolment date to the original contract end, then both tails renew together. This keeps billing aligned and simplifies the quarterly review, since the operations team discusses the entire fleet in one call.
What if I need work done at another Italian airport while enrolled at Bologna?
We can coordinate detailing at other bases; the Fleet Care Program remains LIPE-specific, but ad-hoc requests elsewhere are welcomed. The twelve-month calendar and fixed fee apply only to services performed at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi. If your aircraft diverts to Milan Linate, Rome Ciampino or another Italian field and requires a wash or cabin clean, contact us; we will either dispatch a mobile crew or partner with a local detailer and ensure the same standards and documentation. Those services are billed separately, but the relationship and service history carry over.
